Chapter 52: Artsy, Fartsy, Home Alone 5

nerd blog post #57

Queen's Players is described as a mixture of SNL, booze, and a rock concert. (I think..) It happens each semester at Queen's and this is the first time I have ever missed a show. For me, the description above doesn't do my love for Players any justice at all. I love Players more than Homecoming, the Somewhat Formal, silly hats, costume parties, Christmas, and even Bronco's birthday. I look forward to it for weeks. It's more than the show. It's arriving in Kingston and dropping my bag in the same spot every time, it's the Brass breakfast the next morning, the 3am food run, the dance parties, the Japanese Tea, the morning adventures to the lake or Tim Horton's with Steve while the rest of the house sleeps.. A Player's week-end never disappoints. Most people grow tired of the debacle, but it might just be the week-end I'll miss most.

This week-end, the girls of She Said What (the hit TO sketch comedy troupe) drove to K-Town and are now at Westview House, probably just stirring.... To all of you -- have an amazing week-end. And party Hinckster-stylez.

The Cremaillere (housewarming party) last night was great. I didn't think I'd know many people, but I ended up knowing most.. There were over forty people there, in a big apartment on the top floor of a building that must be over four hundred years old. The stairway leading up to the apartment had the original wooden beams and it was not heated. You could see the sky through the slats in the roof. The jam was happening - good tunes, delicious food, endless drinks, and fun peeps. I started a d-floor, obvi. My friends Foun and Lucie were there, as well as many other students that I'm starting to get to know better. And the girl throwing the party is in my theatre group, so she had invited several others from the group, who were there, too. It was fun.

This morning I met Merrill and Marianne and we went to the market and then for a coffee. We saw a poster for a craft show and we went to check it out. I normally love craft shows, but only if they're .. how to say it .. I guess diverse. This one was table after table of bedazzle bejewel jewelry that cost millions of Euros. Each table had like two necklaces on it. NOT my genre of craft show.

Speaking of crafts, though, there is a huge Christmas market that they're preparing for. And the city has strung lights above all of the little cobblestone streets. I think, come December, the town will be more beautiful than ever.. I look forward to it.

I'm totally home alone this week-end, except for Andorra the Explorra. We're going to go on long walks together. I have been invited to a party tonight, but declined. I feel like staying in and sorting some things out. It's raining outside, and it feels good to be warm and alone. I also have prep to do for next week, and a good book to read..

Sending love across the Atlantic,
Hincks.

You were sorely missed...

Don't worry, I danced hard enough for the both of us, and probably drank enough rye&gingie's for the both of us too.

And then worked a long P&CC shift in your honour.

I'm very tired from living for both of us.
