nerd blog post #89
Hello dear readers,
The last day in Paris was great. I went to the Centre Pompidou for the first time and my only regret was forgetting my camera. The Pompidou is the mod-ren art museum and has the best view of the city I have seen so far. From the roof, you see the whole city, and you get to ride up the glass escalators on the side of the building. It was very cool. I saw Duchamps urinal. It's a straight-up urinal. And German Clown Michael and I also saw the exhibit on the empty rooms. Called le Vide, this exhibit was a series of empty rooms. Really. In the programme, it says, "After Yves Klein's exhibition ... the empty space became a recurrent artistic theme. His radical gesture would be repeated by others, in other contexts, other places and at other times. Fifty years later, the Musee National d'Art Moderne now presents nine exhibitions by artists who exhibited nothing." Riviting. But actually, I totally dug it.
Back in Rennes, the strike is still on. The next big meeting is this afternoon to decide if the blockade will continue. People are thinking it will. At this point, I'd love for it to so I can spend next week with my parents and not have to work.
I have done this and that this week. Prepared for the visit, hung out with Merrill, Cynthia and Benito (he's back again!) and just about finished a great book that Murphy sent me by David Sedaris.
Cynthia and I cleaned the whole apartment yesterday and last night we had Merrill, Foun and Lucie and another student friend, Kevin, here for dindins. We made Mexican and pumpkin pie and it was really nice.
This afternoon I'm babysitting and then hopping on a train to Paris. Tomorrow morning I'll go and get my parents from the airport. I'm reallllllly excited. We'll be joined my uncle and his fam from England. A second cousin who is working in France will hang with us Saturday night.
Sunday is Raffi's bday so my British cousin and I will party Saturday night. That will be fun. Other than that, plans are still up in the air. We'll see all the good spots in Paris and take a boat ride down the Seine. I love boats.
That's all for now. Hope you're all well.
Much love,
Hincks.

I had real Mexican dins on Sunday night. I don't think the restaurant was good though cause it wasn't spicy. I really wanted spice. I also really wanted the dude I was on a date with (6'3, Jewish, avec career) to be spicy. He was not.
Next time let's have Mexican together.
Glad to hear you're enjoying the Sedaris. Can't wait to chat with you more about it...p.s. 7 weeks, but who's counting.
Have a great time with your fam. xo
Enjoy Hincks-O-Rama, the Euro-edition! I'll be waiting for news. Will the world explode when RTD meets RTC in person?!? Kind of like some wierd Dr. Who episode?

Still jealous of your strike, but am glad that it means you get more time with the family.
Tell the whole Hincks clan I say hello!

I hope there's going to be a blow-by-blow of the Parental Unit's visit on this blog . . .
